As a psychotherapist I had spent more than 22 years helping people deal with some of life’s most difficult and painful circumstances. The time came when I knew I wanted to do something different. The creative soul in me that had been sent to its room in the inner sanctums was screaming to be freed. I knew this time would come, I just didn’t know how, or when. And then it happened - I fell in love. With Oil Paint!

My creative soul started leading me down a new path - A thrilling, exciting, fun path. Where I once dealt with psychological challenges, now visual ones challenged me. In the past my clients would unfold the story of where we were going. Now I am constantly amazed by where paint can take me! Composition is the soul of my work and I fuss over it like a baby. For portraiture this becomes even more important; the right essence of the subject must be captured. I so love color, and you will see so much of it in my work! In particular the colors are meant to transform the images with the changing light of the day, creating the effect of almost an entirely different painting from one hour to the next.

When I paint, at my best, I am in another place, another plane, transcendent, unaware of anything else around me. In a sense, this is what I hope my paintings offer others - a place for people to go to escape from their daily existence, paintings that will be timeless. I hope they will always offer a place of beauty, solitude, and peace, where your mind can rest, and you can meditate… A place to stimulate, to become immersed in. Although the imagery is peaceful it is still intricate enough to invite - to make whoever the viewer might be say “I want to be there”. This is my gift to you...
